With the warm weather that’s ahead and the weekend quickly approaching, now is the time to try out new cocktail recipes, a Blood Mary recipe to be specific! I’m not a huge drinker. Like, I’d rather have my oat milk latte with hazelnut over a mimosa. I know, I know, how could I NOT want a mimosa? Sue me.
BUUUUUUT. A spicy Bloody Mary on the other hand, I’ll take anytime of the day! I fucking love a spicy Bloody with loaded pepper jack cheese cubes, olives, & pickles. But hold the bacon, thx.
Anyways, let’s not get too sidetracked here. Lol!
About a year ago, one of my besties (Mati) made a trip to Denver. She was here for over a week, so you can bet your sweet little bum-bum that we experimented with a Bloody Mary recipe.
I get it, you’ve seen Bloody Mary recipes all over the Internet for, like, 10 years. This one is special though! The trick to making the best Bloody Mary is in the first step.
Infuse your vodka with spicy peppers overnight! The spicy peppers we used included jalapeños, chili peppers, cayenne peppers, and banana peppers. & using a good quality vodka is important if you want to make a good tasting drink.
You can opt to curate your own Bloody Mary mix, but we went with McClure’s Bloody Mary Mixer, & it was to die for! So delicious & we found it at my local grocery store, King Soopers. The ingredients are superb, none of the “high fructose corn syrup, caramel color, dextrose, xanthan gum” nonsense! The Bloody Mix we got had these only ingredients – “Water, Tomato Paste, Vinegar, Cucumber Juice, Salt, Freshly Chopped: Peppers, Garlic, Dill, Black Pepper.” Natural ingredients from real foods and no chemicals- I am here for it. We also did a dash of tabasco sauce, 1 to 3 tablespoons of worcestershire sauce, black pepper, & garlic salt. Each of those ingredients can be used however much or however little you would like, dependent on how strong you like your Bloody’s!
First, pour your spicy pepper infused vodka into the glass. Then top the vodka with the Bloody Mary Mix & the additional ingredients I listed above. Once all of those ingredients are in your Sunday brunch drinking glass, gently stir because the black pepper likes to sink to the bottom.
My favorite step, besides making sure my Bloody Mary recipe is SPICY, are the toppings! Toppings are everything when it comes to a Bloody Mary. These can really be anything your little heart desires. I personally love spicy pickles, green olives, celery, a mixture of cubed cheese like pepper jack & cheddar, cheese curds, banana peppers, pepperocinis, or cheese-stuffed olives.
It’s magic in a glass! It’s spicy, it’s full of flavors that just blend so well together, & it’s like part veggie so it’s healthy, right? Haha!
Tell me- are your an orange juice filled mimosa or a spicy bloody mary kind of person? Either works for me but I’d prefer the latter. Lol!

Can I replace the tabasco sauce with ketchup to tame the spiciness?
I guess, if you’re into that kind of thing. LOL!
