I absorb so much information regarding health from all the stuff I listen to or read. I’d go about my day following these health hacks because I’m always wanting to strive to be the best version of myself. Then I caught myself telling Zach that he should do this, this, & this. His response was “why haven’t I read this on your blog, Oba (that’s his nickname for me, LOL)!?”
Like HELLO, DUH! This is why I started my blog in the first place. I guess somewhere along the lines I forgot the purpose of my blog, so my intention for the month of July is to write blog posts that I’m passionate about, that bring me joy & happiness, & ones that all of you can learn from.
I’m going to share with some health and wellness tips I’ve picked up that I think are important for everyone to follow!
This one is a favorite of mine » right when you wake up in the morning, brush your teeth & tongue really well, even before drinking any water! If you don’t brush your teeth & you decide to drink water or eat, all the toxins that have built up in your mouth from being asleep will go right back into the body. Your body detoxifies itself when it’s asleep every night, which is why toxins accumulate in your mouth. When you brush your teeth in the morning, you get all the toxins out of your mouth, instead of putting them right back into your body. While you’re at it, go buy yourself a bamboo toothbrush that has a biodegradable handle & is non-toxic!
If you’re a coffee drinker, drink a glass of water while you’re drinking coffee. This will help keep you hydrated because coffee dehydrates you a lot! Dehydration is bad for the skin & can cause acne break outs, so staying hydrated is very important for your overall health.
Fiber. Fiber. Fiber! Everyone forgets about fiber but it’s so incredibly good for you. Women need 30-34 grams of fiber a day, but the average consumption of fiber for women is only 9-11 grams. Fiber is linked to longevity, weight loss, brighter & clearer skin, it can lower cholesterol, decrease toxins in the body, & absorbs fat and calories with the food you’re eating it with. Essentially, your total caloric absorption decreases when you add in fiber because it absorbs a portion of those calories you’re eating, therefore you’re eating less calories if you add in fiber. Some fruits & veggies high in fiber include spinach, broccoli, raspberries, blackberries, & apples.
If you work out in the mornings, only drink water before working out, then eat breakfast. If you want to feel full from your breakfast until lunch, drink a smoothie that’s packed with protein, fiber, fat, & greens. The protein could be protein powder or almond butter. The fiber could be chia seeds or flaxseeds. The fat could be coconut oil or almond oil or an avocado. & the greens could be something like spinach. Only do a limited amount of fruit. Sometimes I like to do a lot of fruit, but people consume too much sugar per day. To reduce your sugar intake, avoid fruit in your smoothies, especially if you know you’ll be having sugar throughout your day in other foods. Adding in almond milk, yogurt, or some sort of juice increases the sugar intake tremendously, which is unnecessary. Stick with water & ice so you aren’t consuming empty calories & sugar. Also, if eating six meals a day isn’t your thing, then that’s fine. I personally don’t eat six meals a day. I eat when I’m hungry. Listen to your body & you’ll know what it needs. Finally, if you want to keep cortisol (cortisol is a stress hormone that prevents weight loss) levels low, eat a smoothie for breakfast.
I have other health, wellness, & beauty tips! So if this is something you enjoy reading about, let me know because I love talking about this stuff.
