For all of the people suffering from anxiety or uneasiness about being stuck inside, this post is for you.
The one thing I keep going back to whenever I get the chance during this isolation, is nature. Nature in its fullest form is breathtaking when you stop, take it all in & truly appreciate it.
There’s something very calming & very therapeutic for me when I wake up to see the sun shining and the birds chirping. The mornings are quiet right now because traffic is minimal. & I love it. I welcome it. I want it like this, always.
The weather has been *mostly* sunny and in the 60’s or 70’s in Denver! With weather like that, I feel guilty if I can’t get outside to the trail that’s across from my home. Going for a 40 minute jog in the sun has been my go-to. Some days, I choose to just walk during sunset. Other days, I’m getting out in the early morning before anyone is on the trail. I’m doing all of this while social distancing. If the trail seems too crowded with bikers, then I’ll stay on the sidewalk.
The best way to spend this time for me is alone, listening to a podcast and absorbing the atmosphere around me. The beauty & simplicity of nature (especially when the trail is empty), brings me to another level of clarity & calmness, which can free your mind of any built up anxiety you may be experiencing.
I challenge you to get outside and absorb the beauty nature has to offer you. Even if this means enjoying nature from your patio or deck. Instead of working on your laptop while sitting on your couch, head outside and lounge on the deck chair. Read a book outside on your deck while the sun is setting. Bring a blanket & wear a sweatshirt if it’s chilly. Go for a morning stroll in your neibghorhood or get outside in the afternoon & give your eyes a break from staring at the screen. If there’s a river nearby, go down to that river and just listen to the water flow, watch the ducks bob their heads in the water, sit down on a tree stump & just be still.
Right now, nature is flourishing with everyone staying home & I love it! Nature deserves this, the Earth deserved a break from humans. Which is why it’s the right time to get outside and enjoy it without being harmful to it- decrease where you’re driving, don’t litter, don’t destroy the grass or flowers where you’re walking, etc.
+ Feel free to check this post out if you’re looking to lay back and relax on one of these quarantine days!
