May Intentions

May Intentions.

Intentions. What does that word mean to you? Stop yourself before you go to Google the literal definition. Dig deep inside and tell me below what that word means to you.

When I read the word Intentions, I think of it as a state of being. Your intentions are who are you, how you act, the way you respond. This is just my perspective so it could be totally wrong.

I do this thing where I set Intentions each month. Like I’m physically writing in this pink & purple sparkly notebook I got for like $1 at Target. I use a purple pen to match the purple sparkles. It’s really just a whole thing that look forward to doing every month. You could consider these “goals.” I don’t love the word goals because I associate it with something physical. For example, your 2020 goal was to run 5 miles a week or your goal was to limit your coffee intake to only on the weekdays or your goal was to finish 4 books a month. & for me, Intentions aren’t necessarily physical, if that makes sense?

Like I said, this is about your state of being, not your state of doing. You’re being mindful of how you’re reacting, you’re being grateful for what you have, you’re being accepting of where you are at in life. Below, I’ve included my five Intentions for May.

-Less Procrastinating-

More accountability & completing tasks when I say they will be completed, rather than pushing them off. This has to do with me not making certain tasks a priority when they need to be. So even though these said tasks are difficult to complete, they can’t be put off.

-Focus Inward-

Less comparing my life to others. Less comparing to where I am now and where I thought I’d be at this age. Focusing inward allows me to block out that outside noise & focus on myself. It’s digging deep for what I can offer myself that I cannot find when I’m so focusing on looking outward.

-Trusting Myself-

Is also having confidence in myself & my creativity. Trusting that I know what I bring to the table & having enough confidence to keep moving forward, to keep creating content, to continue to do what I love even if I’m dealing with rejection.

-Find Pleasure in The Small Things-

Because that’s all we can do during this moment. All we have are small pleasures because we’re all living pretty ordinary lives & that’s what’s so great- that even in the most ordinary of times, we can be the happiest we’ve ever been if we have the right the mindset & find pleasure in the simplest of things.

-Choose Happiness-

Every morning, as soon as your eyes open, you have the power to choose however you want to feel that day. So why not choose happiness? You’re the one who has complete control over your own emotions. Even if you believe you’re having a shit day, you have the power to still be happy because no one can make you angry. That anger is inside of you because you’re allowing it to be. Choose happiness because you aren’t guaranteed tomorrow.

Writing out these Intentions is a way for me to ground myself, to bring me back to where and how I want to spend my energy moving forward. I read this list over & over throughout the month because it’s like my way of “finding my way home.” Each month the Intentions change, some have been repeated & that’s totally okay. How I decide on what these Intentions should be is where I feel I’m lacking in my everyday life so its areas that need to be improved.

If this is a post you enjoyed, I can start sharing them monthly. Just let me know, & have an amazing Monday!

Feel free to read about how nature can bring you a sense of clarity here.

xx, Aubrianna
