My Daily Inspiration

Hey, hey, hey, it’s Friday! I hope everyone had a great and fulfilling week. So I want to just get right into what my daily inspiration is. I’m the type of person who finds inspiration in many places, whether that’s online scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest, walking the streets in downtown Denver, reading books or blogs, listening to podcasts, the list goes on! You can pull inspiration from anywhere you please, you just have to be open to it.

Real Quick –

I feel like I used to have an unhealthy relationship with Instagram. I did a lot of comparing, jealousy came out, I wished for more in my own life because of what I saw on the gram, & I looked down on myself. All negative feelings, all feelings that I should not allow myself to feel because it only hurts me and me alone.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve turned those negative thoughts into powerful ones, does that make sense? Like I see a page of a girl who’s traveling & looks gorgeous. Instead of being envious, I’m thinking to myself “I can’t wait to travel like that because I know I can make it happen.” Or I see girls who have great style. That inspires me to go on the prowl to find unique stores. Instagram inspires me, like it should. Don’t even get me started when I see the most adorable decorated home, I’m like OMFG, I’m living for this. I wish I could really pinpoint how I made this transition, but I think it comes from a place of security & peace within myself. Of course I have the days when I’m scrolling on the gram and I’ll think “why can’t I have that?” I can still experience negativity, but the inspiration I get outweighs the negative mindset I’ll sometimes have.

My Daily Inspiration

Moving on to my daily inspiration, besides Instagram, is my current read Crushing It! by Gary Vaynerchuk. This book is filled with so many great concepts and steps to follow if you’re trying to build your own brand. I get this urge of motivation after I’ve read my desired pages for the day. I think to myself “hell yeah, I can do this!”

Crushing It! is inspiring & motivational because there are stories in there from other people who were able to successfully build their own brand. Just normal ass people, like myself, succeeding in their work life and loving it.

The book is filled with a ton of valuable information. For example, Gary says to use all social platforms that fit your brand the best. But someone who’s on Twitter doesn’t want to see what you posted on Instagram. The different outlets want to see different things. This is something I’ve never even thought of previously.

He also says to “Document, Don’t Create.” This means to document your journey and allow that to be some of your content. People want to see your history, they want to see how you started there and ended up here. They want the realistic life struggles that one faces, it’s how you can connect to your community. This makes total sense because people want to be able to relate. And what better way to relate than to show the ups and the downs of your never-ending journey, to show who you really are behind all of the curated shit.

What I’ve Learned

I’ve been bookmarking pages so I can refer back to them. I’ve been rereading pages over to make sure I’m really understanding what’s being said. The book has taught me so many valuable lessons about building my own brand and what it takes to get there. If I learned anything it’s that it’s going to take dedication, determination, patience, & a lot of time to get to where I want to be. But it’ll be worth it in the end.

If you’re looking for a new book to dive into, I’d recommend this one. You just can’t go wrong with the information you’ll learn, Gary is brilliant!

I published a post you can find here where I review other great books I’ve read!
