Step Your Coffee Game UP

Make your coffee as nutritious as possible

I mean it, you should be stepping your coffee game UP. Use your morning coffee as a way to kickstart your days in the right way. And that doesn’t mean getting yourself a venti Starbucks order that’s loaded with sugar.

I’m talking about adding spices, powders, or fruit to your coffee. It’s a way to get in necessary nutrients right in the morning.

I’ve been trying intermittent fasting on and off since the summer. I’m not super strict about it, and it’s something I can go further into detail about in a different post. But essentially, I eat for a span of 8 hours and fast for 16 hours, which means I wait until 11 AM or noon to eat my first meal of the day. I still have a coffee in the mornings, and that seems to help curb any hunger I may have. My body has pretty much adapted to not eating at 7 or 8 AM so I don’t actually get that hungry until about 11 or so. I’ve also noticed that I don’t have a 2 PM crash when I do this, which is seriously beneficial. But enough of intermittent fasting, let’s get to the important stuff.

Morning Coffee Recipes

My Favorite One

Because of how simple it is – coffee with almond milk (bought cashew milk at the store today and I’m super excited to use it for my coffees instead of almond milk) and cinnamon. I’m sure you’re already aware about putting cinnamon in your coffee, but if you aren’t, this is something you need to try! Cinnamon is loaded with antioxidants, lowers blood sugar levels, and is a great additive to your cup of coffee.

For the Protein Lovers

This one tastes so damn good, but I don’t do this recipe a lot because for most of the day, I am sitting at a desk sadly. However, I will do this recipe if I’m going to do a relatively long work out in the gym right in the morning or if I’m going to go snowboard/hiking. Here’s my theory (I’m no doctor) & I don’t even know if this is true, but I feel like if I consume too much protein in a day and it doesn’t get burned off from working out, my body stores it as fat. Anyways, if you’re big into protein, then do this! Add a scoop of protein to your coffee, along with almond milk. And chocolate protein is the best, in my opinion. I also love to add Maca powder to any of my coffees, whether it’s with the protein powder or the cinnamon recipe. You can’t taste the Maca but you still get the benefits. I get my protein powder and Maca Powder from Amazon.

The Fruit Fanatics

This recipe seems perfect for the summertime. It’s coffee blended with almond milk, a dash of vanilla, maybe some peanut butter, and two frozen bananas. Frozen bananas are a thicker consistency and more enjoyable for me. Otherwise, non-frozen bananas work! This recipe is great because you get a little fruit in, along with a little bit of protein from the peanut butter, and you get the caffeine.

Let me know if you like posts that have to do with wellness/health related things, because I’m all for it.
